Building Information
The Barclay is a 66-unit wooden building built in 1981 as a rental property and converted into freehold strata condominiums in 2008 officially registered as 'The Queens Plate' at City Hall VR845.
The building is comprised of 59 one and two bedroom suites accessed from Barclay Street and ted northe lane* and 7 townhouses accessed from Cardero Street.
The building has a courtyard, common facilities, parkade and rear garbage shed.
Elevator
The building has an elevator available for residents. Note there is only one button on the control panel which provides access to all floors.
HVAC & Lighting
The building's HVAC system and external lights are centrally controlled and timed throughout the year.
Enterphone Buzzer
For visitors and deliveries, located outside the main lobby on Barclay Street. Please contact property management to program or update your number, which can be a cell or landline. Press '6' to buzz people in.
Move-In & Move-Out Fees
A move-in fee is charged without exception, whether the unit is furnished or not. A move-out fee is not charged. Please see bylaws for full information. Our bylaws require 14 days notice and if not provided a fine will be incurred.
Caretaker, Gardens & Pest Control
Regular janitorial duties occur twice-weekly. There is also a pest control and garden maintenance service. If you have a concern or something to report please reach out to property management.
Laundry
Most units have in-unit laundry. Note that the building can only support washer/dryer combination units The building also has two coin-operated washing machines and dryers located on the first floor adjacent to the storage rooms.
Storage Lockers
Individual units may have access to a storage locker. There are no additional lockers available. Please see bylaws for full information.
Rentals
Our community is comprised of owners and tenants. There are no limits on the number of apartments rented at any time. The minimum rental period is 30 days and strictly enforced.
Energy Efficiency
The Barclay has an Energy Star rating of 88 (scale 1-100). This is a very high rating when compared to similar buildings utilising national energy consumption surveys. The building underwent an energy efficiency audit in 2023.

Neighbourhood
The West End lies west of Downtown, and, on three sides, is bounded by water: English Bay, Coal Harbour, and Lost Lagoon in world-famous Stanley Park. Recreational amenities are within walking distance for residents of this high-density area. The West End includes Davie Village and Denman Street, Robson Street and Alberni Street.
